Daniel
Humerto Jara
Daniel Jara brings to NJN a lifetime of dedication to and achievement in the advancement of Hispanic business and industry, international trade and community service. He is the founding president of the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, now representing the economic interests of over fifty-two thousand small businesses in the garden state and the Philadelphia area and is also owner of the Rimac Agency, Inc., an insurance, Hispanic market and international trade consulting firm located in Hackensack, NJ.
His positions of leadership and the honors and awards bestowed upon him for this work are voluminous and soar from the local to the national and international levels. In 1989 he was elected to the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and later elected Vice Chairman of the Board. He has also chaired the National Hispanic Legislative Forum and the National Convention of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in New York and served by appointment of the US Secretary of Commerce to the New Jersey Export Council. By appointment of three New Jersey Governors, Mr. Jara has served on several prestigious boards and commissions including Prosperity New Jersey, the Governor’s Study Commission on Discrimination in State Employment and Contracting and the New Jersey Economic Growth Council. He is frequently cited as among the most influential Hispanic leaders of New Jersey and the nation, and he has devoted his services to the economic advancement of Paterson, Jersey City and Hackensack among others.
Among his numerous honors and awards are Lifetime Achievement awards from the New Jersey Policy Research Organization, the National Conference for Community and Justice, and Hispanic Magazine in San Francisco; the Medal of Honor in the official degree from the Parliament of the Republic del Peru; and the International Brotherhood Award from Bikur Cholim Hospital of Jerusalem and the State of Israel. Mr. Jara has led several international trade missions both for New Jersey and the nation including ones to Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Peru and Central America. Mr. Jara has worked tirelessly to promote New Jersey as a gateway of trade and tourist attraction.
Finally, as a person with physical challenges, Daniel Jara has championed advocacy on behalf of the disabled community, for which he has been recognized with awards from the Association of Hispanic Handicapped of New Jersey and the 2007 Robert Ross Muscular Dystrophy Association Personal Achievement Award.
Daniel joined the NJN Foundation Board of Trustees in 1998.
