Anthony V. Bastardi is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Development Group Incorporated and its affiliate, Construction Technology Corporation; both recognized leaders in managing the development, planning, design, and construction of complex institutional facilities for education and healthcare. He has over 35 years of broad-based management experience and an extensive background in the development of a wide range of academic, research laboratory, healthcare, senior housing, and other institutional facilities. His experience includes the development of such diverse projects as state-of-the-art engineering and science research laboratories; academic buildings; athletic and recreational buildings; residence halls; libraries; theaters; museums; skilled nursing homes; assisted living, senior independent living, and continuing care retirement communities for private, public, and religious institutions including many prominent universities and colleges, independent day and boarding schools, and a wide range of senior living and healthcare institutions.
Mr. Bastardi holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree (with Honor) from Stevens Institute of Technology (1966), a Master of Science in Industrial and Management Engineering degree from the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science (1967), and has done post-graduate work at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
He is the recipient of two Awards of Excellence from the New Jersey Builders Association. Under his leadership, Construction Technology Corporation was included in Business News New Jersey’s Top 40 Fastest Growing Companies in New Jersey. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society.
Mr. Bastardi is Acting Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for New Jersey Public Broadcasting, the philanthropic and strategic planning affiliate of New Jersey Network (NJN), New Jersey’s PBS affiliate; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Independent College Fund of New Jersey, where he also serves on the Executive Committee and the Nominating and Personnel Committee, which he previously chaired; and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Morris Museum, where he also serves on the Executive Committee and Finance Committee. Moreover, he serves on the Advisory Board at Birth Haven, a home for indigent, pregnant women.
He has previously served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Caldwell College, where he also served as Vice Chairman, and on the Nominating and Honorary Degrees Committee (as Chairman), the Buildings and Grounds Committee (as Chairman), the Finance Committee, and the Development Committee, as well as the Capital Campaign Committee (for the Jennings Library and the Alumni Theater) and the Annual Presidential Gala Committee. He is an emeritus member of the Board of Trustees of Delbarton School, where he served on the Membership and Governance Committee. Prior to serving on Delbarton’s Board of Trustees, he was the Vice Chairman of the Delbarton Cornerstone Campaign, Chairman of the Delbarton Annual Fund, and President of the Fathers and Friends of Delbarton. He has previously served as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Saints Joachim and Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, an affiliate of the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens; and on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of Loyola House of Retreats, where he chaired the Development and Marketing Committee; and the 125th Anniversary Steering Committee, which he co-chaired, at Stevens Institute of Technology.
