Ms Selinger, as Acting Executive Director, oversees NJPBA and serves as General Manager for the organization. Ms. Selinger works directly with the Governor’s office, State agencies and Board of Commissioners. She has been part of the NJN team for over 30 years and also works in the capacity as the Deputy Executive Director for Programming and Production. Up until February 22, 2011, Ms. Selinger also served as Acting President of the Foundation for New Jersey Public Broadcasting, the non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that sponsors programs and raises funds to support NJN. In her capacity, Ms. Selinger played an integral part in generating revenue and cultivating partnerships for NJPBA.

Acting Chief Operating Officer / Deputy Executive Director for Production
Janice Selinger, Acting Chief Operating Officer of NJN Public Television, has the official state title of Deputy Executive Director for Programming and Production. In her role as Acting Chief Operating Officer, Selinger has handled requests from the Governor’s Authorities Unit and the State and worked closely with both the Finance and Administration and Engineering departments in the absence of the Deputy Executive Directors. Ms. Selinger has also worked with the Foundation for New Jersey Public Broadcasting, Inc. Board of Trustees and the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority Board of Commissioners and its committees. In addition, Ms. Selinger generated revenue and cultivated relationships with new organizations.
Selinger also serves as Executive Producer in charge of development and production of national and local documentaries and supervises all station production, oversees media productions, programming, graphics, Newark station operations, web, project budgeting, closed captioning and program development. In addition to these duties, Selinger also served as Temporary Acting Executive Director and Temporary President of the NJN Foundation from July 1, 2009 to September prior to the appointment of an Interim Executive Director.
Her major projects include The Hidden Child; Domestic Violence: Faces of Fear; Battered Wives, Shattered Lives; Throwaway Pets; Mission from the Heart; and Reliving the Lindbergh Case, all of which aired nationally on PBS. Selinger also served as co-Executive Producer for NJN's first international co-production, Speak of Me As I Am, examining the life and times of Paul Robeson, which was a co-production with the BBC and NVC Arts. In 1980, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting awarded a Silver Award to Reliving the Lindbergh Case and Battered Wives: Shattered Lives won the 1985 National Headliner Award for Outstanding Public Service by a Television Network. Selinger also has received awards from the Associated Press, Sigma Delta Chi, and New Jersey Bar Association along with twelve regional Emmy awards, a 1986 National Headliner Award, the 1987 Vanguard Award and a National Commendation Award from American Women in Radio and Television. She was also received a Gracie Award for new media for the web site outreach and documentary Seeking Solutions, a program that examined innovative programs aimed at stemming violence in our schools. Ms. Selinger was also the recipient of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi Award for Public Service for On-line Journalism for Diagnosis Cancer.
Prior to joining NJN in 1979, Selinger was on the staff of WCBS-TV in New York where she was associate producer for the Emmy Award-winning consumer affairs show, On Your Side with John Stossel, and the documentary series, Channel 2-Eye On.
A native of East Brunswick, NJ, Selinger graduated Phi Beta Kappa and holds a bachelors degree in journalism with highest distinction from Penn State University and a masters in public administration from Rutgers University. She teaches in the Communication Studies Department at the College of New Jersey, formerly Trenton State College.
Selinger is the former Second Vice Chairman of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and was National Secretary. She has served as a Trustee for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She is currently on the National Awards Committee, the National Scholarship Committee and the Legal Committee of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Selinger is married to Martin Kline, an attorney in private practice in New Jersey. She has two children, Howard Kline, a recent law school graduate, and Lesley Kline, a public relations assistant account executive.
